has anyone heard of a song... whose first lines kind of sort of go:
"I'm sorry you don't love me... but thank you for your time"?
HELP!!!

One of my favorite things about Los Angeles is the Largo. It's a great, intimate little space where I've seen some fantastic musicians play. I get introduced to a lot of great music, hear wonderful standards, and just really see these incredibly talented performers play music for an appreciative and silent audience. The largo has a strict no talking, no texting, no cell phone during performances policy which makes for a fantastic audio experience. The sad part is that you can't pull out your camera to record stuff. So, let's say you go to the Largo and hear a cover song you love (which I did last night) but you've never heard of it before. You catch a couple lines and commit them to try and google (which I also did) but then google can't give you even the barest of hints as to the title or the original singer.
So basically now I have two lines from a song stuck in my head and no way to find out more about it. this is driving me a little bit nuts. I don't even know how to further try and investigate! argh! this is going to drive me batty.
shinanigans have occurred.

went to harvest festival. it. was. so. hot.

crushed on the performers, specially quest crew. they're are so adorable!
For what it's worth a friend says that it's a sign of old age when we start describing things as cute/adorable instead of cute/hot (as in attractive).
Still cooking, and preferring it to baking. though this pluot/peach galette was as simple of a baked pastry that I could get.
still checking out live music when i can
but let me tell you what I HAVEN'T been doing.
I haven't been accomplishing as much as I hoped on my list of things to do before 30. Though, I am making progress. In July I was able to check off "make kimchi"; in August I went on an internet date (changed from speed dating because, i couldn't find one that really worked); in September I mastered my version of the korean bbq taco. I haven't been able to practice my song sufficiently though. And I'm preparing myself for the pain of the 5k I signed up for in October (goodness i hate running)-- but it'll allow me to check off another one of my goals. I haven't been as organized as I could have been and despite my extra free time lately I haven't been able to get my room in order nor get myself to the gym. Instead I've been obsessed with catching up on tv via netflix and the library. I love the library so much. So many books! So little time!
but gonna try to keep focused via the blog! it feels good to be back.
Here's the link directly if it helps.
So there's this blog I read by this pastor up in seattle. He posted this vid. It starts off with this weird guy dancing alone at this music festival... then this other dude joins him and they dance strangely for a few moments (that must've felt like forever as the second guy is dancing also awkwardly)... and then a third guy and then it becomes a small group that just grows fast as people attempt to join this crazy group before the song ends:
When I watched it, I had this pang of... wistfulness I guess? I think most of the time, most of us are like the people who run in to join the crowd that's formed, to try to grab what fun and freedom we can. It must be hard to be the among the first... to know that you're an object of ridicule, or to be a weird follower, what if the 2nd and third guy that joined had been it? just 3 guys dancing weirdly. I hope that they would have relished the experience anyway but I'm glad the rest of the crowd got up too.... In any case, I thought those first three guys who got up there to dance were real fearless. How awesome are they? I hope that I can do that too one day, but I'm still not going to add dance by myself at a music festival to the list. I'll have to add something else ridiculous and brave instead
.
overheard at costco:
little girl wearing a star wars t shirt: "mooom! please let me get the star wars coloring book!"
mom: "no! you already have a star wars coloring book!"
lgwaswts: "mom! no i don't!"
mom: "your dad got it for you! you were coloring in it just a few weeks ago!"
lgwaswts: "mom! that's not star wars! that's clone wars!"
mom: "that's the same thing!"
lgwaswts *scandalized voice*: "no it's not!"
future geekdom! woo!
too bad this wasn't on the list.
